It’s the 26th anniversary of EATS, the University of Wisconsin-Marathon County’s
scholarship fundraiser, scheduled for Saturday, March 7.
EATS is known for offering attendees samples of delicious, eclectic foods, while
they enjoy live music and bid on fantastic silent auction items.
This year’s featured wines will be from the Starry Night Winery in California.
Their winemaker, Bruce Walker, will be at the event to talk to participants and
serve his wine. He will be presenting 5 different selections from his winery.
Beer will be from the local Bull Falls Brewery. The brew master, Mike Zamzow,
will also be present at the event to talk to participants about his brews. He
will be featuring his most popular craft brews Bull Falls Holzhacker Lager and
Bull Falls Bock Beer.
John G. Neuburg, a Wisconsin native who has distinguished himself as a wine
expert and by introducing new wine brands in the state, will also be in
attendance.
Silent auction items will include a Nintendo Wii, iPods, golf packages, bikes,
hotel getaways and more. A special silent auction will feature artwork from UWMC
students and local artists.
Live musicians playing jazz, pop and classical music entertain throughout the
evening. Adding to the fun will be a special performance by a popular local
band, Hometown Harmony (formerly The Biscuit Brothers), that will play from 9:00
p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
At EATS, guests meander from table to table sampling gourmet appetizers, soups,
salads, entrees, desserts and coffees. Some of the more interesting dishes
guests can sample this year include vegan appetizers (spicy tofu steam rolls
with curried carrot dip, white bean aioli, and walnut mushroom pate), Caribbean
conch fritters with dipping sauces, spicy Indian dahl (lentils), and insect
enriched cracker spreads.
Also included will be more traditional foods such as deep fried turkey, Spanish
tapas and pumpkin roll. And back by popular demand is the chocoholic hall.
Community members, chefs, musicians, scholarship winners, faculty, staff and
students all donate their time to create this fun, relaxing evening. Proceeds go
to the UWMC Foundation scholarship fund. Last year over $30,000 was raised to
fund scholarships.
EATS begins at 7:00 p.m., with the doors open at 6:00 p.m., so attendees have
the opportunity to bid on the artwork and the silent auction items. The event is
open to the public.
Reservations can be made by calling (715) 261-6221, emailing mth-EATS@uwc.edu,
